Nimba Ecolodge & Reserve is an ecotourism facility situated in the East Nimba Nature Reserve (ENNR) encompassing the Nimba Mountains. The Mountain Lodge was envisioned as an environmentally and financially sustainable means of managing the vast landscape of over 11,553 hectares that is ENNR through Nature Preservation, Community Development and Promotion of Tourism. It is a social venture undertaken by Jos Travel & Tours and Libassa Ecolodge in a partnership that taps into the expertise and experience of both entities as pioneers in the travel and ecotourism sector of Liberia.
At 850 meters / 2,790 feet, the Ecolodge experiences sub-equatorial montane climate with distinct wet (April to November) and dry (December to March) seasons. The annual rainfall is approximately 120 inches, which is considerably more than the lower lands on the coast. Relative humidity sometimes reaches 99% and the temperature ranges from 55°- 90°F. The Nimba Landscape remains one of the few places in the country that still experiences sleet (ice rain). It is advisable to bring along warm clothing during the wet season.
